KANEKA

Kaneka is a music style created by Kanak in the 1980s in New Caledonia. This style is influenced by Kanak traditions and mixed with reggae and blues. Sometimes inspired by the music of the Pacific Ocean ( Polynesian music) and the Indian (sega, maloya, seggae ). As well as reggae, kaneka is popular, It is sometimes sentimental but also a militant music because it aims at asserting the existence of Kanak culture and at sending a message which reports the difficult living conditions of the Kanaknbpopulation on their westernized territory.
